A Kingaroy man has been remanded in custody after allegedly smashing his way into homes and attempting break-ins in Nirimba on the evening of 9 March.

At around 7pm, a 41-year-old man arrived at a Terrence Street property and shattered the glass panels of the front door with a hammer.

The man fled the scene after a resident inside went to investigate the noise.

Not deterred, he then moved to a second address on Stephen Crescent, where he used the hammer to attempt another break-in and smashed a car window before fleeing in the direction of Archibald Crescent.

Police swiftly apprehended the suspect, and fortunately, no residents were injured in the incidents.

The man has been charged with two counts of enter dwelling with intent by break whilst armed, and one count of wilful damage.

He appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 10 March and was remanded in custody until the matter goes to a committal hearing on 13 May.
