Queensland Police have arrested a serial offender in Little Mountain after a widespread land and air operation that began in Gympie on Sunday 4 August.

The 23-year-old has been charged with four counts of contravention of domestic violence order, two counts each of assaults occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence), robbery with violence (domestic violence offence) and one count of contravention of domestic violence order.

Police tracked the man to Baringa after two violent incidents in Gympie on 20 July and 4 August.

Specialist police officers and the dog squad chased the man through Baringa, including bushland behind Baringa High School – before the dog squad took him down in a suburban Little Mountain street.

Members of the public in Baringa and Little Mountain assisted police in making the arrest.

It is believed his getaway car was dumped somewhere in Baringa.

Investigations are ongoing but police have advised there is no threat to public safety.

Heavy police presence was seen across Aura, Little Mountain and Bells Creek, with the police helicopter circling.

He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 7 August.
