Introducing our “Local Business Highlight” series, where we feature a local businessperson who is making a significant impact in our community.

Name: Josh Butler

Role: Sales Agent, Coronis

Q. How long have you been operating in Aura, and what changes have you seen in the area over time?

A. I came on board with Coronis at the end of 2021 as an investment agent, and then moved to the sales team in 2022 focusing on Baringa.

Having been a resident in Baringa since 2017, I’ve witnessed the changes – like having the entry to Baringa roundabout at Steiner Crescent to watching the bird bridge getting built.

I love going to the local IGA to collect shopping rather then trundle into Caloundra.

From trying Mummy’s famous bacon and egg burger out of the container on Central Ave to seeing them succeed and grow as part of the community – all the changes, and the more to come, continues to make our community our own on the Sunshine Coast.

Q. What do you love most about doing business in Aura?

That I can talk about how much I love the area, and there is no where else I would want to be on the coast.

Personally, I’m a proud Gubbi Gubbi man, so living and working where my ancestors come from it’s incredibly special.

While the main office for Coronis is not in Baringa, I spilt my work between there and at home.

Being able to walk to my appointments or see people on the weekends at the peddle park, or people catching me as I’m walking around in my broncos gear.

We are all connected and living where I sell, I have a responsibility in making sure my clients know how much I love living here, as well as the people who we help move in here as well.

Baringa is home.

Q. Can you share a memorable success story or milestone your business has achieved here?

A. Its happening right now, and it’s something that I had on my goals board when I started in sales.

Year to date, I am the number one sales agent in Baringa, and on a rolling 12months I’m number two.

Being able to be a trusted advisor to both sellers and buyers means the world to me, and I don’t take that for granted.

Q. How does your business contribute to the local community, and what community initiatives are you involved in?

A. There are a lot of things that I would prefer to keep to myself, but I have donated to local sports teams, local kids who are going on trips.

We have assisted at Nirimba State School and will continue where we can on that.

There is an amazing young chef in the Aura called Matilda who makes some amazing cupcakes that bought for an event as well.

Going forward, my three-year-old loves swimming at John Wallace Swim School and, going forward, I would love to be involved there in some capacity.

Where I can see that I can help, I’ll do my best too.

Q. What challenges have you faced as a business owner in Aura, and how have you overcome them?

A. Some of the flack we get through different mediums, complaining about the suburb issues or industry related issues, are only issues due to a few bad eggs.

We are still a young community finding our way, but it shouldn’t be degraded by people with an agenda or people who don’t live in the community.

Staying positive and doing a good job in what is a self promotion business you cop some really disgusting and completely untruthful comments.

For me, I would like to be know as a trusted advisor in the Real estate space for Aura.

Being able to have all the good and tough discussions with our community, having integrity in my dealings and just being a good person are traits I hope shine through for people who I interact with.

Q. What future plans or upcoming projects do you have for your business, and for Aura?

A. As some stage, I would like to open my own office through Coronis In Baringa.

Maybe not the Baringa Stockland as we have a couple of real estate offices there hahaha.

But it will be nice to take the home office to a “real” office and have an added presence here.
